  • What is the RF spectrum that Falco products use?
    Falco products operate across the entire unlicensed 5GHz spectrum, offering distinct advantages for wireless video delivery. Unlike the overcrowded 2.4GHz band, which is heavily utilized by devices like Wi-Fi access points and Bluetooth, the 5GHz band provides a more reliable solution for low-latency video delivery. Additionally, the 5GHz spectrum outperforms the 60GHz band, which requires a direct line-of-sight between the transmitter and receiver. In dynamic environments like operating rooms, where staff and equipment frequently move, 60GHz communication can be disrupted, making it unsuitable for consistent performance. With up to 11x 40MHz channels and 25x 20MHz channels available, the 5GHz spectrum supports multiple devices operating simultaneously in the same OR without interference—something the 2.4GHz and 60GHz bands struggle to achieve.
  • What is the latency between the Falco MD62 transmitter and receiver?
    The latency is up to 2msec. This ultra-low latency is reached using a unique technology, based on a video modem, invented and patented by Teradek.
  • How many Falco receivers can link to one Falco transmitter simultaneously?
    Up to four Falco receivers can connect to a single Falco transmitter simultaneously. Note that in such multicast mode, there is no added delay, nor degradation in video quality.
  • Do Falco MD62 and Falco MD11 support EDID?
    Yes, Falco products support EDID, and in case of multicast, when the video is transmitted to more than one Falco receiver, the Falco transmitter will “merge” the EDID of both monitors, so the EDID communicated from the Falco transmitter to the video source would be the common denominator of the two video sinks, connected to the Falco receivers.
  • Does the Falco MD62 have medical certifications?
    Yes. The Falco MD62 is fully certified including FDA and MDR approvals. Regional approvals include US, EU, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other countries.
  • Are there APIs to control the devices?
    Yes. APIs are available for OEMs.
  • Is a line-of-sight required between the Falco transmitter and the Falco receiver?
    There is no need to keep line-of-sight between the Falco transmitter and the Falco receiver. As the Falco units work on the 5GHz band, the signal can penetrate and deflect from different objects, keeping a robust link wherever the Falco transmitter and Falco receivers are positioned, as long as the Falco units are not covered in metal.

  • Can Falco MD62 link with Falco MD11?
    Yes, the Falco MD62 and the Falco MD11 are fully compatible.
  • Is the video link secured?
    Video is encrypted using AES-256, with the encryption key securely exchanged via RSA during the pairing process. The proprietary link between units operates independently, requiring no access to the internet or the hospital network.
  • How does the system work? How is it so robust?
    The system supports both: MIMO and JSCC. MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) is a method for wireless communications in which multiple antennas are used at both the transmitter and the receiver to multiply the capacity of a radio link. This enables data to travel over many signal paths at the same time and reach the receiving antenna without being affected by fading. MIMO creates a more stable connection, minimize errors, optimize data speed, and improve the capacity of radio transmissions at each end. JSCC (Joint Source Channel Coding) is one of the key innovative solutions, patented and used on Falco products. This technology enables Falco products to utilize not only the spectrum in an extremely efficient manner, but also to use almost the entire channel capacity. Using the entire channel capacity enables extremely high video quality. As the channel capacity changes rapidly on a wireless connection, JSCC enables to follow the channel capacity automatically and without the need of a feedback channel, resulting in video quality that is constantly as high as the channel enables, without adding any latency, as no feedback is required.
  • What are typical applications for the Falco MD62?
    Wirelessly connect Endoscopes, Microscopes, C-Arms, surgical monitors, secondary monitors, mobile monitors and recorders.
  • Will any SDI or HDMI cable work with the Falco MD62 units?
    SDI and HDMI cables which support 4K 60FPS shall be used. This means that the SDI cable should be compatible with 12G SDI and the HDMI cable should be HDMI 2.0 compatible.
  • Do Falco products use WIFI, Bluetooth, or a proprietary protocol?
